Obituary

Diana L. Sgrazzutti passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the age of 74. She was born on January 15, 1945 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan to William Koerber and Ida Mae Koerber Massnick. She was the only girl amongst 7 brothers and received the nick name “Snow White” by the Detroit News when they ran an article about her family. Snow met her Prince Charming, James Sgrazzutti and they married in 1966. Together they raised their two children, Kimberly and Timothy and became actively involved at St. Blase Catholic Church. Prior to her marriage, Diana graduated with her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from St. Joe’s in Mt. Clemens. Her career proved to serve her outside of work as well. She was well known for her organizational skills and record keeping skills critical for being a nurse. She was the family’s record keeper and historian. She also used those skills to teach Catechism at St. Blase. In addition to her career, raising a family, and volunteering for the church, Diana enjoyed needle point, knitting, and gardening. Her family knew her to be the ultimate caregiver and fighter. Diana bravely fought and beat breast cancer 20 years ago and as a way to help others she actively participated with Relay For Life to Help raise funds and awareness so that one day others won’t have to endure the disease. In addition to her husband James, Daughter Kimberly (Randall) Tanascu, and Son, Timothy (Michelle); Diana was survived by her grandchildren, Matthew, Patrick, Robert, Nicholas, James, Anthony, Tiffany, and Lea; her brothers, Robert, Ralph (Mary Lou), and Randall (Donna); sister-in-law, Betsy, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Koerber and Ida Mae Koerber Massnick and her brothers, Roger, Richard, Ross, and Raymond.
