Obituary

Gregory Vincent-Earl Baker, age 54, died on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at his home in Westland, Michigan. He was born on January 13, 1965 to Fredrick Baker and Sandra Chambliss.

Gregory was the definition of the ultimate sports fan. His favorite sport he loved to watch was Football. Gregory was an avid Patriots and Spurs fan.

When she could pull him away from the sporting events, Gregory and his fiancée, Deborah, enjoyed traveling. Although Gregory was passionate about many things, his family was always his top priority. He loved his family more than anything in the world and enjoyed spending family time together. Gregory was the definition of a true family man.

What Gregory's family remembers the most is his wonderful taste in clothing. He absolutely loved to dress and did so in a fashion forward style. The outfit, although, was not complete until he added cologne. He loved to smell good.

Gregory was the loving fiancé of Deborah Lockett. He was the beloved father of Gregory (Markia Kane) Baker II, Donovan (Lauren Lee) Baker, Tyron Odums, and Amber Avery. He was the cherished grandfather of Makenzie and Brooke. He was the dear brother of Quinton (Crystal), Kevin (Karen), Myee, and the late Denise. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 19 from 11 am to 2 pm at Chas. Verheyden, Inc Funeral Homes, 16300 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan 48230.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Chas. Verheyden, Inc. Funeral Homes.

Greg, I watched you struggle and I watched your success. Always having something to say. Always friendly. Always cracking on someone young or old. You were GQ before the magazine even came out. You’ll be in my heart and memories. Brother always!!!!

Greg was one of the coldest, funniest, loyalist and dapper gentlemen I have ever known! He was a good friend of my sister Lisa, and quickly became a friend of mine. He made an appearance at every family gathering held at Kevin and Karen's home. He would bring his charm, wit, cool, candor and humor every where he went. He was an awesome brother, loving uncle and wonderful friend and I admired his sincerity. My deepest condolences and prayers to his family and friends. I pray your wonderful memories will bring you some comfort during your hours of need.
