Locksley Asherton Smith. Age 76. August 3, 2019.

Locksley, commonly called "LAS" by many of his friends and family, was born in 1943 to the late John and Olga Smith in Jamaica, West Indies. Beloved husband for nearly 51 years of Claudette Smith and loving father of Najwa Smith, Dia (Krysten) Smith and Michaelle Smith. He was the proud grandfather of Mason Schmookler, Dia Smith, Jr., Locksley Smith, Jr., London Smith, Nicholas Smith, Nichole Ross, Samuel Ayorinde, Deborah Ayorinde and David Ayorinde. And dear brother of Earl "Honey" (Lola) Robinson, Rose "Jer" (Garth) Jordan, Valerie "Joy" (Roy) Nelson, Jennifer Foster, Mark Smith, Sharon "Curly" Evans, Sandra Davis, Michael "Gary" (Andrea) Smith and the brother-in-law of Errol (Faye) Morrison and Marilyn (Ricardo) Padilla.

As a CPA for well over 50 years, Locksley worked tirelessly for his clients many of whom became dear friends over the years. He travelled far and wide, for his clients but also to fill his soul with the knowledge that comes from experiencing other people, places and cultures. He was a world-wide traveler, reader and lover of music, amazing confidant, parent and friend. His easy curiosity, smile, quick wit and charming laughter will be deeply missed.

Because Locksley was an avid supporter of many charitable organizations for education, the arts and the homeless, in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations here:
A celebration of his life will be held in the fall.

Locksley will be deeply missed! I thought/think of him and Claudette as grandparents. He told me to hurry up and have a baby because I was getting older (LOL). I told him that I would never have a baby! I am so glad that I was able to share the news with him and Claudette that I will be giving birth to a baby boy! He/they were thrilled! He told me not to be a worry wart! He will truly be missed. My condolences to the family. I am deeply saddened.

Of the many things for which Lockskey will be remembered, world traveler, excellent photographer, great story teller, generous and well loved friend, perhaps he will be most remembered as being a devoted and loving husband (50 years of marriage), an engaged and supportive father, and an extremely cool grand-dad! Locksley will be missed, but certainly never forgotten. Fondly, Edwina
