Obituary

Mary D. Desmond; Age 76; November 13, 2019. She is survived by her sisters, Clare Desmond and Frances Desmond Domenico (Ben); her nephews, Dan Domenico (Janel), Johnny Domenico, and her niece, Anna Domenico (Steve Kurtz). She was preceded in death by her parents, Humphrey J. and Melva Lynch Desmond. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capuchins, www.thecapuchins.org or to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org. Our sister Mary graduated from St. Clare de Montefalco, Dominican HS, the University of Denver (BA) and the University of Northern Colorado (MA). She worked as a vocational rehabilitation counselor, often assisting in legal proceedings. She was a voracious reader, a spirited and witty conversationalist, and loved to travel. As a young woman she lived for a time in Seville, Spain and Kinsale, Ireland. She especially loved her Irish heritage. In her later years, she enjoyed winters in Costa Rica. She lived her life generously and valiantly, especially in her final struggle with cancer. In addition to her family, she is survived by lifelong friends from childhood and her travels, and her beloved pets. Services will be held at a later date.

On behalf of the Capuchin brothers, I offer my deepest sympathies on the passing of Mary. It is truly humbling to receive memorial donations in honor of Mary's life. Please be assured of the brother's prayers for the entire Desmond family during this great time of grief. May perpetual light shine upon Mary!

We will miss sweet Mary in our lives! Always a smile and a hug. Humphrey and Melva will be so happy to have “home”. So many will be happy to see her again. Love to Fran and Clare.
