Rick Gerard Sandles, age 64, died on Friday, August 30, 2019 at his home in Eastpointe, Michigan. Rick was born on March 6, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan to the late John and Anna (nee: Staels) Sandles.

Rick, born and raised in Detroit, attended Denby High School. After school Rick went to work at the family gas station, “Sandles Brothers”. Following working in the family business, Rick became a butcher. He started off at the Rich Plant before moving to a store in Sterling Heights and then Vegas Food Mart in Harper Woods. He eventually ended up at Oak Ridge Market where he retired in 2016.

When Rick could find time away from work, he loved to spend it at his Trailer up north near Grayling and the AuSable River. Rick was passionate about hunting and fishing which he enjoyed doing with his sons, Scott and Ryan. Rick and Dave would spend Thanksgiving weekend at the Trailer just the two of them hunting.

Rick also enjoyed reading. It did not matter what author or kind of book, he loved reading everything and anything (including the dictionary). Rick was a fantastic grandpa. He liked talking and messing around with the grandkids. They had lots and lots of laughs together. He would play music on his guitar and he loved any kind of dog.

Rick was the loving father of Scott (Carla) Sandles and Ryan Sandles. Cherished grandfather of Lincoln and Brooks Sandles. Dear brother of Ronald (Frances) Sandles, Laurie (David) Gornick, and the late Jerry Sandles.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Schultz Chapel of Chas. Verheyden Funeral Homes in Eastpointe.

I have so many great memories of by friend going back to Jr. High. Working at the gas station, spending so many wonderful days at the trailer hunting and fishing or just hanging out at Denby lanes, or the park... Wow, I will miss him!
May the Lord bless him and keep my dear friend, and give him peace.
