Cavanaugh, Timothy James; Born November 11, 1940; Deceased October 19, 2019; Beloved Husband of Shirley A (June 28, 2017). Loving father of Christopher S. (Sharon J.) and Cathie Jo Seamon (Philip). Also survived by grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, remaining relatives, and many friends. Tim was known by all to always have a joke in his heart and on the tip of his tongue. He was very proud of his career at Ford Motor Company where he retired after 37 years. Loving the workplace so much, he returned to work at Robert J. Bosch for 12 years before finally retiring.

When he had a young family, Tim put a great deal of time into a boat so his family could go out fishing on Lake St. Clair. Reflecting he often said that the two happiest days in a boat owner’s life are the day he bought it and the day he sold it. He also played the piano for his family, as long as they would let him play it in a boogie woogie style.

Tim was a fixer of all things – or at least he tried. He often tried to emulate Tim the Tool Man Taylor from Home Improvement. He also loved “tech things”. He was a gadgeteer and a “putter-er”.

Tim considered himself a bit of a shutterbug and loved taking photos at family functions. When Tim was around, family events were very well documented. For many years, his grandchildren wondered who that odd-looking person was that had a camera for a head. Only after they were school age did Tim let them see his wonderful smiling face.

Very active in his faith community at Our Lady Star of the Sea, he was an Usher, Christian Service Commission, a member of the Knights of Columbus, helper at Fish Fry’s and Spaghetti Dinners, was a Collection Counter, and did anything else that needed to be done. He was a great dad and grandpa. He attended all sorts of events for his children and grandchildren. He fiercely loved the Detroit Lions (we all have our faults), even through years of disappointment.

It is with great sadness we say goodbye to a wonderful Christian, a great dad, a jokester, fixer of all things, lover of boogie woogie music, strong supporter of Ford Motor Co., Coca Cola Addict and lover of fast food, a gentleman that always carried a handkerchief, someone to always sleep with his socks on, and any other wonderful thing you can think a person to be. Tim was a person that you’d want to know and have on your side. Goodbye Tim. We love you.

Alas, God periodically reminds us that we are all on loan. Luckily for us, we all meet up in the same place when we're called back in. With love,
